This project is similar to the previous one, but upgraded and containing a programmable brain.

I used a base design contained in a book, The Robot Builders Bonanza, and I take no claim to have made it myself. I did, however design the control circuit. The tweaked metal idea is not mine. I would definately reccomend the book to anyone who is interested in robotics.

I ordered most of the parts from a Canadian store called HVWtech, and they came in good time, for a inter-country shipment. The robot uses two high speed gearboxes for differential steering, and a BS2 for a brain. I gave it whisker switches like my other one, but this time, I added more. It has two light sensors (Cds) for light following or avoiding, and I have parts and plan on making IR object detection. However, seeing as this project is being abandoned, I doubt they will ever 'be'. It uses a Basic Stamp microcontroller as a brain, and an L298 motor driver chip to control the two motors.
The pictures are just what I have so far. The empty socket holds the BS2, and only one whisker switch is on at the time of the photo. Also, the light sensors wern't in existance when I took the picture.
You may have noticed the LED on the top panel. It is not hooked up just yet, and the only reason I put it there is because I was going crazy with the power drill :)
